A long trip was in hand for the 9th and 10th rounds of the Junior Ginetta championship, the two races held far in the north at the Croft circuit. The weekend was one of mixed emotions, with two poles and win but a non finish in the first race.
Round 9 of the championship ( race one) went according to plan until the final corner on the final lap. Jordan led the race comfortably from lap one and looked odds on to win the race and close the gap to James Harrison at the top of the championship leader board. However, disaster stuck when Jordan was taken off the road in a crazy move as he entered the last corner for the final time. The driver who committed the offence was later punished by having two minutes added to his finish time but the damage was done and the championship seemed all but over for Jordan.
Jordan knew that to redeem some success from the weekend he would have to go out and do his up most to try and score maximum points from now on. His determination and character showed when he dominated the second race at Croft controlling the pace from start to finish. The race report from Ginetta said:
“As the race wore on the pace was relentless and Williams was driving like a pro, really trying hard to maintain his lead, spectacularly locking up the Ginetta into the hairpin on more than one occasion”
Jordan said philosophically:
The results were there for the taking, I had both poles again, both fastest laps and should have had both wins. The championship has just been taken from me. The win in second race makes up a little bit for the first race disaster but I know now to win the championship I am going to have to have an almighty slice of luck at Thruxton.”
