News - Formula BMW Barcelona DAMS Press Release

Williams to complete Team DAMS line up for opening round of Formula BMW Europe.

French GP2 and Formula BMW Europe race team DAMS, have this week confirmed that the final driver to complete their three car Formula BMW Europe team for this weekend’s opening round of the championship at the Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona, will be 17 year old Jordan Williams.

Last season Williams finished 12th in Formula BMW UK with a maiden podium at Knockhill and 9th in the Formula BMW World Finals at Valencia with Team Loctite. This year, Formula BMW Europe, formed from the merger of the German and UK Formula BMW championships, will be one of three support series to the Spanish Formula One Grand Prix this weekend.

Williams said: “I am delighted to be confirmed to drive in Barcelona especially for a top team like DAMS who have a proven pedigree in international motor sport. I feel really honoured by the trust and confidence that has been put in me by DAMS team manager Eric Boullier to put me in the seat. Although I have missed all of the pre-season testing, and in fact haven’t even been in a Formula BMW car since November, I still feel that I can do well in Spain. I look forward to getting on the track on Friday and doing the best job I can and seeing where that puts me on the grid, but I am confident of doing well.”
