The 3rd meeting of the season for the Junior Ginetta series was held at the home of British motorsport, Silverstone on the 22/23rd July. It seemed fitting at this historic and famous track that Jordan gained his first ever victory in his first year of Car racing in brilliant style.
The scene that greeted the junior drivers just before their qualifying session was a little unnerving. Huge thunderstorms and monsoon like rain pounded down on the Northamptonshire circuit causing the session to be delayed for 2 hours. Once the rain had calmed and the storm seemed to be over the drivers were let out onto the circuit to taste the famous wet at Silverstone. Jordan, only in his 3rd ever car meeting, took to the rain like a duck to water. Finding the grip in traitorous conditions he eased to both poles by over 2 seconds. A superb start to the weekend.
The first race on the Sunday was a lot drier than the Saturday, with all cars now in dry set up. James Harrison the experienced championship leader in his second season of Junior Ginetta eased off the line and pulled a comprehensive gap on the first few laps. Jordan could never quite regain the distance he was behind and eventually settled for a strong second place.
Some changes to the car and new tactics seemed to bring Jordan to life for the second race of the day. A much better start and first few laps saw Jordan right on the tail of his adversary Harrison, the two comfortably ahead of any other driver. The race developed and a mammoth scrap evolved with the lead swapping many times between Jordan and James. However towards the end of the race Jordan seemed to have the upper hand in the dogfight taking the lead again with only a few laps remaining. After a brilliant defence and superb turn around of pace Jordan took his first ever victory in a car at one of the most famous circuits in the world.
The championship was most definitely closing up and with only 3 meeting remaining Jordan was right back in the hunt for the title.
He said: “That was the best race of my career so far, a brilliant a result for myself and everyone who helps me. It has put us right back in the hunt for the title and now I need to continue this form at Brands Hatch at the next round.”
