On Thursday 2nd November Jordan sampled a single seater car at the Welsh circuit as part of his championship prize for finishing second in the Junior Ginetta Championship. Jordan had three sessions around the Welsh circuit with driving tuition from ex-Formula Ford champion and Winning Le Mans Team Panoz Driver, Tom Kimber-Smith as well as data analysis from Team manager Paul Hague.
This being the first time Jordan had ever driven this type of car he emerged from the cockpit with a smile of his face and impressed bosses with his pace – set by some laps by Kimber-Smith giving a time for Jordan to aim for.
Jordan adapted well to the Van Diemen Formula Ford car in the very short space of time. “It’s been a great day today” said Williams. “It was my first time in a single seater Formula Ford and I had to get used to the different type of car at first. In my last session of the day I got my lap times down below James's by a couple of tenths and got closer to Tom Kimber Smith's time. Which is quite good considering the lack of single seater experience I have"
He added “It’s a lot different to the Junior Ginetta which has less grip and is less responsive. The Ford is easier to get into the corners – you just have to keep hold of it! It’s faster than the Junior Ginetta as well. It was good to get into something a bit faster!”
