The opening round of the 2007 Formula BMW UK Championship took place on the 31st March and 1st April at the Brands Hatch circuit in Kent. Following pre season testing Jordan came into the weekend with conservative hopes of scoring two good finishes to start the season well.
During free practice on the Friday the weather took a turn for the worst, in torrential rain Jordan was happy to use the sessions to gain some more experience in the wet after little winter testing. In tricky conditions the session was useful and Jordan enjoyed his first experience in the proper wet.
The qualifying sessions however did not go to plan with Jordan only managing to record the 15th best time in damp conditions. Jordan said "The car didn’t quite feel right and although I was quick at the start of the session ultimately not getting the best out of the tyres has cost us in both sessions. It is going to be tricky to make up places now in the race but I will give it my best shot."
A lightning start in the first race enabled Jordan to shoot up the order almost into the top ten. However lacking the ultimate race pace Jordan was unable to make up anymore places but he did record a solid finish to open his 2007 Formula BMW season in 13th place.
The second race of the day followed a similar pattern and following a good start Jordan was able to gain places. Holding 10th place for the majority of the race he was only just denied a top ten finish when he was overtaken by last years Formula BMW UK Rookie cup winner Henry Arundel. Jordan secured a good start to the season by finishing the race in 11th position.
The weekend was a rather frustrating one not only for Jordan but the whole team. Jordan added "We just have to put this weekend behind us, it was a solid start but not where I would like to be. I’m sure in time I will come on leaps and bounds and soon enough I will pushing for the top places. I’m looking forward to the next time out in the car."
Jordan’s next race is at the Rockingham Motor Speedway on the 21st and 22nd of April.
